I hope you are all doing well. I have been very heavy of heart toward the lost and dying in Africa. Velvet and I went to the Global Health Conference in Louisville a few months ago and I was alarmed by the magnitude of the HIV/AIDS Pandemic in Africa.
Here are some of the Facts:
1) 43 million people globally have HIV (75% of these are heterosexual, 70% in Africa, 50% in Nigeria)
2) Since the 1970's when HIV first appeared, 22 million people have died of this life threatening disease
3) In 2000 alone, 5 million people contracted HIV and 3 million died of AIDS (10% were children)
4) Transmission is predominately thru sexual contact, but many in the developing countries have contracted
HIV/AIDS from untested blood transfusions, unclean needles, and mother to child transmission thru childbirth and
breast-feeding.
5) By 2001, 13.4 million children had been orphaned because of this disease and is projected to climb to 25 million
by the year 2010. Today 3.3 million children die annually from AIDS related diseases.

The church has done little to assist in this catastrophe with only 3% of all giving going to this cause. God has placed this burden on me as I travel to Nigeria and the number of HIV cases continue to rise. The millions of dollars in HIV aide never reach them and they cannot afford the cost of medications to help. Last year I was introduced to a group, Global Tech Resources, that has the vision to reach out to the millions who are dying in Africa. They have a Treatment Vaccine, which has been used in China for the past 10 years on other difficult viruses. In recent years, they have used it successfully on HIV patients, putting the disease in remission for about 1 year. I have agreed to do the first Double blind study in Nigeria, but I need funding. Once we prove that this vaccine works, USAID has agreed to give us the funds to Immunize the remainder of Africa. My plan is to do a study on 75 individuals that have HIV and follow them for one year. After six months, if the vaccine looks good we will get the funding from USAID to continue and expand. My initial cost involves purchasing a CD4 Count Machine for $22,000, the Vaccine from China for $20,000, and a remaining $8000 for the staff and supplies to carry out the study. The total is $50,000.

As you can see, without Christ and the needed medications for this disease there is little hope for these people. The need for HIV/AIDS education and medical treatment for those in Africa is great. Will you consider partnering with, to help assist with this cause in Africa? Any amount that you can give will be appreciated and put to good use. As you can imagine, it will not stop there if it is working well, but we must begin somewhere. If you know of a church, civic group, or company that would be willing to let us share this cause, please let us know. Pray that God would give us grace and favor to accomplish this endeavor.
