DECEMBER 2001
Dear friends and family,
We hope you have had a wonderful holiday season. We were blessed to have all of
the Quartemont family together for the first time in 20 years. It was a precious
time of reunion and healing. God really cares about families and has answered
many of our prayers. Don't give up on your family if there have been problems.
Keep praying; God is bigger than all of them.
Drs. Haywood Robinson and Noreen Johnson (presently on the board of M.M.I.) have
found favor in the countries of Tobago & Trinidad. I am traveling to Tobago
January 3rd to meet with government officials who are interested in giving land
for a mission clinic. Pray that God will use this time to influence the people
and establish His desire in these countries.
Presently our February trip to Nigeria is on hold. As many of you know, we have
been trying to get a 40-foot container of medical supplies sent to Nigeria for
more than 2 years. Please pray that God will do something supernatural to ship
the container this month. The shipment is time- sensitive due to a grant that we
have pending through Blessings International. This grant will help offset the
major expense of shipping. Another reason for expedience is the fact that dated
medicines are being shipped.
The hospital and bible college continue to do well. There is a village outreach
planned for February where there will be a week of medical clinics, nightly
crusades, and the planting of a new church with the new converts. Please pray
that God would move mightily and give strength to the staff and students as they
minister in these outreaches.
We also have a mission trip planned to Matehuala, Mexico, during the month of
May. Pastor Simon Reyes has planted 30 churches in this area. We will be doing
clinics and evangelism with a group of college students primarily from our local
church. If you are interested in joining us on this trip, let us know by March
so that we can get information to you. We will also be planning a trip to
Nigeria in late July for one month. We will be working mainly in the mission
hospital, but many other ministry possibilities are available. Let us know if
you or someone you know has interest in joining us on this trip. The cost is
generally about $1,800 - $2,000, all-inclusive.
We have sent out a number of proposals to start an AIDS/HIV hospital in Nigeria.
Statistics show that up to 35% of the population in some areas of Nigeria are
HIV-positive. Pray that God will bring in the necessary funds to accomplish this
project.
In spite of the recent tragedy's in America, M.M.I. has had a good year. We want
to thank all of you who have traveled with us and those of you who have upheld
us with your support and prayers. May God bless you and your families abundantly
in 2002.
Yours in Christ,
The Quartemonts
