Meeting human needs as we joyfully serve the lord together in new ventures and regions beyond!

Photo Right: pumping out the first 1000 gallons during well construction.
By this time (over 1 week into the project), the contracted drillers were manually chugging along the 24-inch diameter well at about 55 feet depth. The well cuttings were quickly forming a massive mound and showed varied soil colors.

We would visit the well site from time to time on different days to encourage the drillers, provide money for what was necessary for them to continue to make progress, and then share our faith and lifestyle with the native dwellers in various parts of the village. These included some burial ceremony gatherings. We had the opportunity of visiting with the Traditional Ruler, Eze Oliver Iriele, Duruoshimiri V of Ogberuru where we presented the community with 2 of the 10 donated computers from All Nations Church in League City (Dr. Larry & Linda Garza, Pastors).

We went to Port Harcout (PH) twice to meet Dr. Samson Otuwa who arrived on the 21st and to pick up a hand-carried travel document for one of our team members, including additional operating funds. Our P.H. trip turned out to be the scariest for team members since our driver got lost on the way back to Aba that night. He was looking for better road when he diverted off the main P.H. – Aba expressway to avoid the damaged portions of the road. We were using a Mercedes Benz car from Dr. & Mrs. Charles Ikeji of Divine Grace Hospital. We eventually discovered the driver was neither familiar with the roads, nor was he an experienced road worrior for such Nigerian roads. We eventually made it safely to Aba and resolved not to take any further night journeys. Overall, we visited several villages, cities and states covering about 2000 miles. These include Ogberuru, Amaigbo, Orlu, Owerri, Aba, P.H. Benin, Onitsha, Lagos, Abuja, Jos, Bauchi, and Yankari to the National Wildlife Safari and Game Reserve.

The Results
Below are the highlights and the impressive results the Lord gave us on this first Mission trip to work in Nigeria, especially the focus in Ogberuru Village. continued top-right

  1. Our number 1 Water Well for RNM, Inc. was dug and finished within 28 days (Well depth was 120 feet, water supply yield was good – a little over 20+ gallons per minute; quality was good / clean, etc.)
  2. Cost of the Water Well digging effort – labor, material, and pump installation was a little over $4200. Compared to a mechanically driven rig, which would have done the depth in about 2 days and cost much more ((between $15,000 - $25,000) if done by commercial drillers, this was a big bargain for us. However, owning a mud-rotary rig would make a big difference in time and cost.
  3. We presented / delivered two of the donated Computers to the Ogberuru Community Secondary School (through the Village Chief or Eze – the Traditional Ruler on behalf of the community). In honor & respectfully, we also gave the Eze some personal gifts as no one customarily comes to see the Eze empty handed. The Eze was very pleased with our mission and prayed that God would prosper our ways to continue to do good deeds in the community & to humanity.
  4. We greatly impacted the village dwellers by our gesture of goodwill and faith for their long-term health, or good, thus generating interest and attention as shown by the response to our preaching the gospel.
  5. There were about 625 souls saved / born again. Of this number, about 200 were from the village Anglican Church (St. Peter’s), while some 235 were from the...
